Mike Gachot

Reentry Manager

Mike joined the Parole Project staff in November 2021 as a reentry specialist and was promoted to reentry manager in 2022. As reentry manager, Mike oversees the day-to-day operations of our reentry staff. He works with our reentry specialists to streamline each client’s successful transition and provides guidance in difficult situations.

A former Parole Project client, Mike was 15 years old when he was given a life sentence. During his two and a half decades of incarceration, Mike became a skilled craftsman and carpenter before earning his second chance in July 2018. Before joining the Parole Project staff, he was the warehouse manager for the Louisiana Property Assistance Agency’s Baton Rouge facility. During his three years at LPAA, he helped open the door for several Parole Project clients and other formerly incarcerated people to return to the workforce.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending his time with his wife Connie, step-children, and his home-based carpentry shop. He continues to utilize the skills he learned in prison to build and refurbish furniture for family and friends.
