Policy and Reform Work

Parole Project actively works with legislators, other organizations, and advocates to impact policy decisions that affect incarcerated individuals. We have worked with lawmakers to introduce legislation that expands release opportunities for Louisiana’s longest-serving populations, providing insight and serving as examples of the benefits of second chances. We have also worked with the Department of Corrections, Pardon and Parole Board, and other groups to reform administrative practices, improve accountability, and provide transparency for incarcerated individuals seeking release. Our effective reentry work reassures decision-makers that these changes will benefit both incarcerated individuals and the communities they will rejoin.
