Danny spent nearly a half-century in prison before receiving his second chance. While incarcerated, he worked on the range crew and was a member of Angola’s esteemed Rough Riders rodeo drill team. Now 72, he is looking forward to making the most of his sunset years.
Dwayne
Dwayne spent 29 years in prison after entering as a 17-year-old. While incarcerated, he was a literacy tutor and mentor, teaching others how to read and write.
Kernell
In 1996, Kernell entered prison at age 18. Nearly three decades later, he walked out with a welding certfication, deeper faith, and hopeful spirit. Kernell said he’s most looking forward to the everyday, face-to-face conversations with his parents and sister that he missed out on for so long.
Kenneth
Kenneth spent 24 years in prison before earning his second chance. The now 67-year-old found refuge in music as a singer for the prison’s church band. “I thank God every day for guiding me and allowing me to reach this point,” he said.
Armando
Armando was 17 years old when he was sentenced to life in prison. During his incarceration, he earned his GED and welding certification and became a tutor for multiple programs. Now 45, he has earned his second chance and is looking forward to continuing his personal growth.
