Parole Project has now welcomed home 700 men and women since 2016, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s work to help people succeed after incarceration. The 700th client was Bobby, who received a second chance on July 8 after serving 22 years. Parole Project welcomed him home that same day.
Before his incarceration, Bobby served in the Army National Guard and played football and baseball before attending Southern University in Baton Rouge. While incarcerated, he earned welding certifications and worked in the silk-screen and sign shop.
For the last five years of his incarceration, Bobby was housed at the Louisiana State Police Barracks, where he helped maintain and care for the fleet of aircraft used by Louisiana State Police and the state’s first family. He is dedicated, hardworking, and ready to use the skills and experience he gained before and during incarceration to build a meaningful career.
“I’m excited to be here at Parole Project and to have my freedom,” Bobby said. “I’m so happy to be home with my family and to be given this second chance.
“Welcoming our 700th client home is a meaningful milestone that represents 700 individual stories of perseverance, redemption and possibility,” said Andrew Hundley, executive director of Parole Project. “We are grateful to the supporters and donors whose belief in second chances makes this work possible.”
