Represent Justice, a national advocacy organization that, at its core, uses the power of media to engage audiences in reimagining the justice system, and creating real demand for change, visited Parole Project in May. They brought their leadership staff to talk about new initiatives with two of its ambassadors, Executive Director Andrew Hundley and Deputy Director Kerry Myers, and to conduct a narrative and storytelling training session.
Launched in December 2019 as an impact campaign around the release of the film Just Mercy using system-impacted “Ambassadors” to attend screenings and speak about the film’s impact, Represent Justice morphed into an advocacy organization focused on narrative change through storytelling at the ambassadors’ urging. The organization engages audiences through powerful stories and media to build awareness and spark collective action. Myers, an original ambassador and part of the Just Mercy film campaign, was followed in the next ambassador class by Hundley who produced a film on the value of clemency during his time.
After the two staffs met and mingled, Represent Justice CEO Daniel Forkkio conducted a workshop on storytelling skills and talked about future opportunities between the organizations. Thank you, Represent Justice!
